Applications Due Wednesday - March 26, 2008 |

This fund has been established by
the Cobb County Bar Association and the
Cobb County Legal Secretaries Association in memory of ALEXIS
GRUBBS, the daughter of Judge Adele Grubbs. Alexis was a
rising senior at Marietta High School when she was killed in an automobile
accident on July 28, 1998.
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student at
Marietta High School who
intends to pursue a career in some aspect of the legal field. The criteria
for the award is the description of Alexis made byOtis Brumby,
Jr., Publisher of the Marietta Daily Journal. |

| This student shall be: |

Bright,

Wholesome,

Respectful,

Courteous,
-
Unselfish,
-
Family oriented,
and
-
Focused.

|
The scholarship award is $4,000.00, payable
$1,000.00 a year for four consecutive years while in post-secondary
education.
Recipients of the Scholarship shall maintain a 2.5 GPA and attend
school carrying a full load, for two semesters or three quarters each
year. The committee may, in its discretion, award additional
scholarships for students at technical institutes or other institutions
of higher learning for shorter periods of time or partial scholarship
amounts.
The scholarship is awarded at the Cobb Bar Association Awards
Ceremony held each year on approximately May 1st, and a certificate
of recognition shall be presented on Honors Night at Marietta High
School.
The funds are payable jointly to the educational institution and the
scholarship recipient and forwarded directly to the educational
institution. The payments are made on a semi annual basis at the
beginning of each semester, or three equal payments at the beginning of
each quarter, depending on the school.

| Administration |
|
This memorial scholarship fund is held under the Marietta
Schools Foundation and invested by them. The members of the
committee overseeing this scholarship shall be provided with regular
financial reports of principal and interest by the Marietta Schools
Foundation.
All administration costs associated with the fund are
borne entirely by the Marietta Schools Foundation, a 501(c)3
organization, at no cost to the scholarship. All contributions to the Alexis
Grubbs Memorial Scholarship Fund are fully tax deductible and are
applied entirely to the scholarship award fund.
The scholarship is managed and awarded at the
complete discretion of the members of the scholarship committee.
Requests for applications are placed in the Marietta High
School-Guidance Center in early Spring with a return date the 2nd
week in March.
The Committee will meet shortly after the return
deadline for review of the applications and to make a joint decision on
the current year’s recipient.

1 Member of the Marietta High School cheerleading
staff

Up to 2 members of the family to be selected by
Adele Grubbs
-Adele Grubbs and Dinah Grubbs Bonesteel
-
1 Member of the Marietta Schools Foundation
-Neil Barfield
1 Member of Marietta Middle School
-Robert Meaders
These committee members shall be selected by
the entity they represent.

Cobb County Bar Association Charity Golf Tournament |
|
In 1999, the Alexis Grubbs Memorial Scholarship was the
recipient charity for the first annual Cobb County Bar Association Charity
Golf Tournament. The tournament was a great and is a continuing
success. The scholarship has been a recipient charity each year since the
tournament's inception. To date, the golf tournament remains the main
fundraiser for the scholarship.

through organizations such as the Cobb County Bar Association and the Cobb
County Legal Secretaries Association; the Alexis Grubbs Memorial Scholarship has
